Well I didn’t find anything too interesting at the swap meet. I found several Sigma Six Joes, but I don’t have any and don’t want to start buying any. The only Joe item I found was a 1989 Heat Viper with a broken right hand. I picked him up for 50 cents.
So I am off to a local swap meet to see what gems I can find. I post up anything I grab later. In addition, I’m finally going to start going through some of the 30 boxes that this collection came in. I’ll also post pictures of those items as well.
Here are pictures of my Argen 7 figures. First off, the mortal card back is a reproduction. Second, you will see two mortals and two topsons. I have the mortals with and without the cobra insignia. I think there are only 4 or 5 mortals that have symbols like mine. With the Topsons, there is a paint variation in the v-neck one with and one without the black plaint.
I am very proud of these figures, I bought them for myself as both a birthday present and for passing the CA bar and getting a job. All are complete minus topsons phone and manlehs chute (but I’m working on that). Enjoy!
So two Korean issued figures just ended on eBay. I wasn’t the winning bidder on either, the prices went crazy. Up for auction was a straight arm Rock N Roll and a straight arm Cobra Solider. They went for $313 and $712 respectively.
The price was too high in my mind, especially considering that some people in the community think they actually may be bootleg cardbacks. It has not been determined what legitimate factory the figures were produced at. In addition, the quality control on the cardbacks is also lacking. First, the entire card has artwork, rather than a space for the bubble. Second, the placement of the figures on the bubble is inconsistent and covers up different parts of the art. Third, the figures themselves seem to have no differences from the US releases (however, this is the case with some Takara figures so it isn’t definitive.)
Regardless of their authenticity, they are awesome figures on the card that I wish I could have won. I just wasn’t ready to shell out that much cash on one of them.

So my comics from small joes arrived today. I picked up the entire run of GI Joe: Cobra. The series covering Chuckles as a undercover spy. I thought the first two issues were ok, and developing the story. The third issue, WOW. Chuckles having to kill Jinx blew my mind. Also have a Joe die is something new to me. It was great! I can’t wait to start reading more.
The latest edition of WOJM has just been released, you can find it all over the net, but I decided to link it here as well. I really like both WOJM and Flag Points. Just wish Flag Points was more than just once a month as they announced in their latest episode.
So my collection is growing rapidly and has outgrown my area to display it. So, I am currently in the process of remodeling my garage into a GI Joe show room! I just had the roof redone to prevent leaks and insulation, drywall, flooring and most importantly A/C is all going in this week. I will also have a dehumidifier in the garage as well, but I don’t anticipate fluctuating humidity, especially with insulation and AC.
The eventual goal is custom cabinets with glass to display everything. I will be creating some type of temporary storage and display in the meantime.
BTW, please comment and let me know what you guys like and don’t like. This blog so far as been a mix of community news, and my thoughts and growing collection. I will always try to get new content up at least once a day, but I am still trying to figure out the direction I want to take this site.
It was just announced that gi joe will be coming out as Kre-o. I’m disappointed that it isn’t Lego and is a knock off. Despite that I’ll definitely look into it.
So I have also started to dive into the comics. I bought the entire GI Joe Cobra series with chuckles, that leads to CC’s death.
I have not read any IDW comics poor to this so when I get them in and read them, I’ll post a review. Even though by this point it is old news community wide- its new to me. Haha
