The Art of GI Joe – Phoenix AZ Show!

Just wanted to plug this show I heard about coming up on Saturday March 23rd from 12pm-6pm at the Collectors Marketplace (1945 E. Indian School Rd., Phoenix, AZ, 85016).

“This will be the event of a lifetime for fans of GI Joe and the artwork behind and inspired by it. We will have local artists showcasing and selling their work, as well as a poetry reading and an exhibit of original Hasbro production art pieces! The BIG Guest is GI Joe Retaliation!!! That’s right, the movie opens March 29th and the promotional staff will be at the event with tickets and other swag so come celebrate the film with us! This event is free to attend. Artist space available please send us a message or contact grey@gijoevstransformers.com for information.”

I would love to be able to see all the original Hasbro production art! Having the Retaliation promotional staff there should also make it a great time! I don’t know where most of you guys are located, but if it is anywhere near Phoenix, take the time to check it out!

It’s Official, I’m a GI Joe Kre-o Collector!

I went over to my local TRU today with the goal of just checking out the Kre-o stuff, and maybe, just maybe picking up Check Point Alpha because I like the nostalgic feel of it. As soon as I got to the section, I saw the blind single packs and the Gotta Have Em All (yes Im crossing streams) took over. I pulled out my phone and found the assortment list and numbering for the blind packs, and after struggling to find the unique numbre for each figure I ended up with one of every figure from wave 1 plus a little army of Alley Vipers and Crimson Guards. The AV come 3 to a box and the CG are 2 to a box. I also would have grabbed the second Trooper but it seems someone got to it before I did and bought a single blind pack.

I also grabbed Check Point Alpha, my original goal and limit, as well as The Tactical Battle Platorm set and the Dragonfly set. I could have also picked up everything minus the Ninja Temple Battle set, as that was the only one missing, but I decided to leave the others for another day, and hopefully some new kid collectors.

In any event, Hasbro – you have at least one GI Joe Kre-o completionist. I cannot wait for the Dojo with the Hiss Tank, Destro and Baroness to come out, along with wave 2.

Here is the code list so you guys can know what you are looking for and not run into doubles, unless you want:

23401 75 Alley Viper (3/case)
23401 76 Cobra Ninja Viper (3/case)
23401 77 Cobra Trooper (2/case)
23401 78 Crimson Guard (2/case)
23401 79 Cobra Axe Ninja
23401 80 Kim Arashikage (Jinx)
23401 81 Kamakura
23401 82 Quick Kick
23401 83 Rock-N-Roll
23401 84 Scarlett
23401 85 Adventure Team Commander
23401 86 Torpedo

And, to help you not stand there like an idiot like I did trying to figure out where the code is printed check out the picture below. The code is printed in black on the back side of the pack, along the right edge.

Registration Op… What, what?

It is NOT happening today…. It is unfortunate that unforeseen issues always seem to crop up. … I was very excited to register for my set.

“Hello all,

Well, we have had an unforseen issue that is being resolved.  No registration this week.  Maybe next week, I just don’t know.

I  am just as frustrated with this as you are, so, I will no longer cry wolf.  There are 3 programmers working on this intermittent
error and we do not have a timeframe.  I’ll just tell you the earliest it could happen is Monday but, that is not a promise.

Thanks for your patience,

Brian”

Retaliation Cobra Invasion Team

Just picked this set up, man the Firefly and Cobra Invasion Trooper are awesome! The Firefly is a spot on homage to the original ARAH Firefly. They really did well updating this figure. The Invasion Trooper is also really cool. Im always down for another paratrooper and I really like the vest/web gear with Cobra on the back. The storm shadow is  disappointing. I did not buy the set for him at all. I wish it came with another Invasion Trooper to be honest.

JoeCon Convention Set Reveals!

The Club has released a ton of information and pictures about the convention set. Overall, the figures are hit and miss, but it is still worth it to buy it. I wish the Cobra Mortal had a metal vac head. Hit & Run is terrible. But Repeater, Muskrat, Charbroil and Psyche-Out are all home runs for me. I also like the Cobra Frag Vipers and Saw Vipers. Letal is a decent choice as well. But it is strange to me that they are mixing Rubiplas and Estrela Cobra figures with the Mortal and Letal.

Here are the pics:
